DEER
PARK SPRING WATER CONSIDERING ROCKBRIDGE
COUNTY FOR A SPRING WATER BOTTLING
PLANT
A
Rockbridge area location could result
in hundreds of quality jobs and hundreds
of thousands of dollars in annual
tax revenue.
The
Rockbridge Partnership today announced
that the Deer Park Spring Water Company
is obtaining an 18-month option on
lands in the vicinity of Big Spring
at exit 50 of Interstate 64 in order
to assess its potential as a water
source for bottled spring water.
Deer
Park will be engaged in extensive
scientific and hydrologic studies
during the option period in order
to assess the quantity and quality
of the waters at Big Spring as well
as the hydrology of this section
of Rockbridge County, explained company
spokesperson Jane Lazgin. If Deer
Park concludes that Big Spring can
supply the quality and quantity of
spring water needed to service our
growing customer base without any
adverse effects to the local environment,
the Rockbridge area will become a
candidate site for a spring water
bottling facility.
Deer
Park Spring Water Company, founded
in 1873, is a division of Nestle
Waters North America Inc. (formerly
The Perrier Group), the number one
bottled water company in North America.
Nestle Waters, based in Greenwich,
CT, is the bottled water division
of food and beverage company, Nestle,
S. A.
It
says good things about a community
when a leading international company
says it may invest $100,000,000 in
your community, said The Rockbridge Partnership,
Executive Director of The Rockbridge
Partnership. A spring water bottling
plant will have the potential to
create hundreds of quality jobs and
contribute hundreds of thousands
of dollars in annual tax revenues
to the County.
