next summer....
By
next year, this undistinguished-looking pile of dirt will
be one of the holes on the municipal golf course in Buena
Vista. Construction of the 18-hole course began last week
with the removal of topsoil on part of the course. The course,
expected to cost about $7.1 million, is to be completed this
fall and play to begin next summer. This will be the first
ever public golf course in the Rockbridge County area. Recent
zoning law was approved for the course and surrounding area
that could mean residential and commercial development around
the course in the future.

each hole's location and shape.
August 27, 2003 The irrigation system
is nearing completion, just in time to begin watering
the bent grass that will
cover the 18-hole course.

the newly seeded bent grass grow.
November 4,
2003 A number of new holes have been completed over the
past couple weeks. Wee are hoping to have a few
more weeks of good weather.
The architect's have
also taken special care to protect a number of natural
areas.
