Over 200 residents of the Rockbridge area celebrated
the valuable role of business and industry in the
community at The Rockbridge Partnership's 23rd Annual
Business & Industry Appreciation Dinner
at the Natural Bridge Inn and Conference Center.
Following a 2 hour social 'hour' along Cedar Creek
in the shadows of the famous Natural Bridge, attendees
enjoyed a sit down dinner in the Hotel ballroom followed
by comedy entertainment provided by Mark Cline and
wonderful music presented by the Southern Virginia
University Choir. There was plenty of opportunity
to network and fun was had by one and all as the
community came together for the 23rd year in a row
to thank our business community for their many contributions
toward the prosperity we enjoy in Buena Vista, Lexington
and Rockbridge.
Special recognition was provided to:
- Modine Manufacturing Company was recognized
for being named one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens
for 2005 by 'Business Ethics' magazine.
- PowerSystems International, Inc. founder
and President Lou Zak was recognized for having
been named 2005 Virginia Small Business Person
of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
- MeadWestvaco was recognized for recently
announcing its intent to construct a 600,000
sq ft consolidated distribution center in the Rockbridge
area.
- The Rockbridge Area Economic Development
Commission recognized Executive Director The Rockbridge Partnership "for
his excellent performance as its Executive Director
and congratulate him for his successful efforts
in bringing economic development to the Buena Vista/Lexington/Rockbridge
Community."
